The medals were struck at the Philadelphia Mint. Just 2,000 of these were minted and issued in bronze by the U.S. mint.These medals were presented as the gold medal for many of the products or exhibits. In numismatic circles this medal is regarded as one of the finest award medals from a design perspective. The designer was John Flanagan who also designed the Washington quarter.
