2006 Test Token Set
This unique 2006 Test Token set is a tribute to the advanced engineering involved in one of the world�s very few coloured circulation coins. In response to the extremely successful Poppy Coin in 2004, the Royal Canadian Mint is proud to introduce the Creating a Future Without Breast Cancer 25 cent coloured circulation coin.
Test tokens are struck by the Royal Canadian Mint to aid in the development and improvement of the many coin manufacturing processes. Test tokens are a tool that allow for the assessment of the various elements and factors that may impact the manufacturing of the final coin. In fact, the first test tokens date back to 1907.
Test tokens are utilized for die and die coating testing, for plating process modifications, for dimensional testing, for selection and evaluation of coin blank materials and coin tooling materials, for the edge profile process, for coin collars, for the conformity of the electro-magnetic signature in coins, as well as for other uses.
The 2006 Test Token Set includes the 1-cent, 5-cent, 10-cent, one dollar, and two dollar test tokens. It also includes a test token of the 2006 coloured Creating a Future Without Breast Cancer 25- cent, plus an actual Creating a Future Without Breast Cancer 25- cent coin.
