With seven victories in 18 Grey Cup® appearances, the rich history of the Montréal Alouettes* is an integral part of this year 's celebration of the 100th Grey Cup. The most memorable Alouettes' Grey Cup win is captured on this commemorative stamp – the Ice Bowl – when icy field conditions wreaked havoc on both teams during the 65th Grey Cup game played in 1977 in Montréal's Olympic Stadium. Alouettes defensive back Tony Proudfoot had the idea to put staples in the soles of his and his teammates' shoes. The huge traction advantage helped Montréal dominate Edmonton 41-6.
